The 6th international conference and industrial exhibition organized by the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Islamia University Bahawalpur have started today.
This international conference is according to the vision of Vice Chancellor Engineer Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob. Whose aim is to make the teaching and research activities in the university in accordance with the priorities of the country’s economic and social development. Similarly, the farming community should also benefit from the benefits of these research activities.
Bahawalpur is located in a region where on one side there are lush green areas through irrigation and on the other side is the Cholistan desert. Both these areas are very important in terms of livestock especially camel rearing. This conference is a link to bring together the people of Camel and the University on a single platform and facilitate fruitful collaboration and cooperation for both.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Pro Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur. The Pro Vice-Chancellor said that Islamia University Bahawalpur is playing its role in the economic development of the country and the economic improvement of the people of this region.
The conference organized by the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences will surely open new doors of development. At the conference, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan, Professor Dr. Masroor Elahi Babar, Professor Dr. Subhan Qureshi from Dairy Science Park, Vice President Camel Association Pakistan Elahi Bakhsh Marghzani, Director General Livestock South Punjab Ijaz Ahmed Gursi, various regions of the country including Experts and guests from academic and research fields participated.
Professor Dr. Methat Darek from the University of Konya, Turkey, made a special appearance at the conference. In addition, experts from different countries of the world participated in the conference online. On this occasion, the organizer of the conference, Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Mansoor said that the main objective of the conference is to bring positive change in the lives of camel people. Stalls of the livestock sector were set up in the industrial exhibition. Cholistan camels danced at the event.
