A tree plantation campaign was launched at the Main campus of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (SBBUVAS) Sakrand, near Bakhtawar Girls Cadet College, where the Vice Chancellor, faculty members, administrative staff, and students planted hundreds of saplings in a single
day.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Mohammad Farooque Hassan, and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zahid Iqbal Rajput, inaugurated the campaign along with the advisor to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Abdullah Arijo, the Registrar, Engr Muhammad Khan Bhangwar, and the Deputy Director of HRM, Mr. Ali Raza Shah, Convener Teachers-Students Organizing Committee (TSOC), Dr. Hidyatullah Soomro by planting saplings on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of students’ participation in tree plantation campaigns and beautification under the vision of leadership, adding that it will build their ability to work and achieve success in the future. He also appreciated the extraordinary participation of hundreds of students in the campaign, which showed their sense of ownership of their university.
The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zahid Iqbal Rajput, stated that the campaign’s main objective was to make the newly established campus clean and green. He added that the students of SBBUVAS were always committed and ready to serve their Alma Mater, and with their help, all
resources were being utilized by the Vice-Chancellor to make SBBUVAS dirt-free.
On the occasion, Dr. Hidyatullah Soomro said, “I strongly support the tree plantation campaign. Planting trees is not only a simple and cost-effective way to combat climate change, but it also provides numerous benefits to our communities and environment. We encourage everyone to take part in this initiative by
planting trees in their homes, Institutes, and communities and taking care of them as they grow. Let’s work together to create a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for ourselves and for generations to come”.
On the occasion, Prof Dr. Abdullah Arijo emphasized that the country was facing challenges like climate change, but tree plantation was an effective weapon to cope with the issue.
